Stress and inner monologue

Stress can force our decisions, and a lack of stress can bring us multiple lines of thought.  Dan Dennett is misconstrued when he says that our "selves" don't really exists, but could it be that our multiple lines of thought are what  allows our selves to emerge, in other words, is our emergent self a convenient lie.   In which case our actions represent a democratized consensus among our cultivated sections of mind?

The truth is easier to remember and infinitely easy to forget a lie, stress is like fatigue and responds well to food and rest. We are not perfect, is a truth we all share.
